An evening with Sondheim, Brel, and Friends 5pm – 7pm

Owner Bob Delf will be playing piano with 2 extraordinary singers: Don Collins, and Bethany Staelens. Don came to Seattle in 1974 to sing with Seattle Opera.  He became one of their National Artists in 1976 and was with the company as a leading baritone until 1980.  He continued his career over the next 30 years, ultimately transitioning to musical theater.  He’s performed with numerous theaters in Seattle including: ACT, TAG, The 5th Avenue and The Village Theatre. Known primarily as a jazz singer in the PNW, Bethany’s New York career was primarily in theatre and cabaret.  Some of her favorite roles include Meg in “Damn Yankees”, Patsy in “Always, Patsy Cline”, and Dorothy Brock in a European tour of “42nd Street". Bethany’s cabaret appearances include solo shows at Pallson’s, Gregory’s, and Don’t Tell Mama, “Noel Coward and His Ladies” with Steve Ross at the Algonquin, and as writer and director, “Sex: Because it Sells” at The Duplex. Bob is a classically-trained pianist, and began playing professionally at age 13. He was Musical Director for the Canadian debut of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, also played Side by Side by Sondheim, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, and I Do! I Do! .

Brittany Jean is a folk singer/songwriter in the Pacific Northwest, currently living in a little, apple town in Washington. During the past few years, her performances have ventured farther and farther from home (including playing the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee, and opening for Three Dog Night’s sold out concert in New York City). Brittany has released five studio albums--all recorded in Music City, and her fifth album Wintertide was released before Christmas 2021. Recording work for Brittany's sixth album is already underway. Katie has been performing in the greater Seattle area since 2012. As a classically trained vocalist, she has spent years studying and performing in both the classical and jazz idiom; both as a solo artist and in ensembles. Katie has also acquired a significant amount of compositional experience devoted to the study, writing and arranging of both vocal and instrumental jazz. Because of her eclectic musical background, Katie draws her inspiration and vocal approach from a wide range of jazz, pop and classical, artists and techniques. She now performs professionally as a jazz vocalist both at public and private events. Her husband Chris is one of the top jazz pianists in the city.

You’ll be tapping your toes when you hear this lively duo with its big, warm sound — featuring Nelda Swiggett on piano and vocals and Clif Swiggett on trombone and percussion. This married couple has played music together since the night they first met in 1987. Their duo together, the little BIG Band, debuted in 2013. They’ve performed at jazz clubs, private parties, weddings, and concert venues around the Northwest, and love to share their joy of music with all audiences. The little BIG Band plays hundreds of songs, crossing genres including classic jazz and swing standards, lively Brazilian and Afro-Cuban rhythms, and funky hits by Stevie Wonder, Norah Jones and more — all freely interpreted in the moment by this nimble and fine-tuned partnership.
