When it comes to wine blends, are you a fan of the styles of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Bordeaux, the Rhône, Chianti, Rioja, or the seductive blends from right here in Washington? Wine blends are fascinating because they are really a unique expression of the style of the person blending and what they like.

Now you have the opportunity to try your hand at creating your own custom blend! We’ve conducted this class for our private event clients with great success. Join us for our first open-to-the-public, wine blending class!

When: Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 2-4pm

Where: Northwest Cellars Kirkland Winery & Tasting Room

Cost: $60 per person; $50 Cellar Rats

You’ll be led through the class by Northwest Cellars Chief Wine Geek, Bob Delf. We’ll provide four varietal wines and everything you need to create sample trials. You’ll decide on your favorite blend and even take some home!

The class is limited to 16 people so sign-up early!

Interested in creating a private blending class? Coordinate your group of 10-16 and contact us about your date and time.

What is Bob’s style of blending? Make a wine you like to drink! Mother Nature, Oak, Steel, Time, Location, Weather–these are all factors that play into what a varietal wine might be like. Some wineries are all about acidity and tannins and sugars. Some are completely artistic and striving for different. Bob likes to simply make wine he enjoys. He blends the varietal wines he works on with Robert Smasne into wines he likes to drink—-and it seems to be a good approach because judges from around the country have been awarding them with top honors.
